California Dream Act Signed By Jerry Brown | Second Bill Passes

On Saturday, Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 131, can the second bill in two California Dream, the illegal immigrant students to apply for state financial aid resources for college.

In July, Brown signed AB 130, which makes financing from private sources available to undocumented students. Saturday passed with the signing of AB 131, the California Dream Act in its entirety, granting undocumented students access to public and private funds for the university.

According to the California Department of Finance, are more than 2,500 students eligible for Cal Grants as a result of the bill, at a cost of $ 14,500,000. This amount consists of 1 percent for the year $ 1.4 billion budget of the Cal Grant program.
